The Oscars may be about honoring the best of the best in Hollywood and giving credit where credit is due, but what we girls really want to know is, “whoʼs wearing what?” And if you happen to be engaged, the Red Carpet serves as inspiration for the biggest day of your life: your wedding. Youʼre sure to be pinning many of the looks to your wedding Pinterest boards and comparing notes with your Maid of Honor.
This yearʼs 2013 Academy Awardʼs Red Carpet was a mix of ultra-feminine designs and structured gowns. Jennifer Lawrence rocked an amazing light pink Christian Dior confection that looked elegant and edgy at the same time. Jessica Chastain looked like a goddess in her beaded Armani. And Charlize Theron looked incredible in a crisp white sheath, also by Christian Dior. Then we had Amy Adams, who was stunning in a light blue/grey Oscar de la Renta gown.
There are a few major trends that you are sure to see reflected in the design of bridal gowns this year. Here are a few ideas on what youʼll be seeing when you go shopping for your wedding dress this year.
Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior
Jennifer looked like a dream in this pale Dior gown. The fitted bodice effortlessly flowed into the voluminous skirt, which was very reminiscent of vintage Dior. For brides looking for a twist on the classic wedding gown, this shape is an excellent option. Look for designs that cinch in at at the waist and flow outwards to create curves. Because this design has a lot of volume, youʼll want to choose shorter veil or vintage hair pin as opposed to a opulent head piece.

Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani
This metallic gold dress complimented Jessicaʼs fair skin and red hair perfectly. This simple design is timeless and would look great as a bridal gown. If you are craving a look that is both effortless and chic, this silhouette is the way to go. Keeping the accessories simple is the key here. I love the idea of deco earrings or a jeweled bracelet as to not take away from intricate beading.

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior
Iʼm a huge fan of Charlize, who looks beautiful in just about anything. This architectural Dior gown incorporated springʼs peplum and the unique neckline trend. Add an embellished sash to dress up the simple design. I mean, how amazing would this dress be for a chic, evening wedding?

Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta
Amy Adams was my favorite dress of the night because of the unique color and texture in the skirt. Iʼm pretty obsessed with the idea of a light blue/grey wedding gown for the fashion forward. Not only is it unexpected, but it also can work with a variety of different skin tones. Amy wore her hair in a low bun, which showed off the intricate neckline of the gown and balanced the volume of the skirt.

Over all, the Red Carpet gave us some great ideas of what we will be seeing on the runways and down the isles in 2013. Whether you favor a romantic design or a streamlined look, youʼre sure to find a wedding dress inspiration thatʼs perfect for your big day.
