Casual Elegant Winery Wedding / Hannah + Rick

FROM HANNAH, THE BRIDE. For our wedding, we wanted to have an outdoor setting that was beautiful and relaxing but not too far from the city. We incorporated touches of elegance into our wedding so that we can look back on our photos in 30 years and still appreciate the beauty of the occasion. Therefore, our wedding was a mix of traditional elements (black tuxedos, white flowers, platinum-rimmed china) and more rustic organic elements (wood bistro chairs, olive branch accents, and honey-filled mason jars). This casual elegance represents our style and the neutral color palate was clean and beautiful against the vibrant and lush wine country backdrop. 

Our wedding planning process was truly a joint effort. Rick was an incredibly helpful groom and was willing and able to help out with various projects. We made this process a fun experience that we could share together. We made lots of visits up to Healdsburg to plan the wedding, and each time we made sure to add in a wine tasting or visit to a new restaurant.

Four weeks before our wedding, Rick tore his Achilles’ tendon playing basketball. After undergoing immediate surgery and many weeks being unable to walk, Rick was finally cleared to walk for the first time at our wedding. It was emotional and felt like a miracle. Rick promised me that we would walk together in the ceremony and share our first dance. In the days leading up to the wedding we didn’t think it was going to be possible. But in the end, we were able to share those special moments together after all. Even though Rick’s injury was the most stressful part of the wedding, it was also unexpectedly the most meaningful part.

At the beginning of our planning process we made a list of the 5 most important things for us. There are so many aspects to planning a wedding, but we tried to really focus on our top 5 priorities: winery country locale, film photographer, private and intimate venue, soft and delicate flowers, rustic and elegant atmosphere. We were so pleased that Trentadue Winery and our photographer, Silvana di Franco, were able to bring those priorities to life and that we were able to create a day that truly reflected us as a couple.
