English Garden Inspired Rehearsal Dinner

After a week hiatus of moving our studio, I’m so happy to be back and settled in our new space to start blogging again. Let’s start with with this English garden inspired wedding rehearsal dinner that I think you’re going to love. Here are a few words from their wedding planner, Willow Rose Events.

The couple has a beautiful love story. The met a few years ago, when Marie (from England) met Will while traveling in Canada. They kept in touch, but there were no sparkles just yet. Years later, while Will was traveling to England, they decide to meet up and well.. that’s where their loved blossomed and the rest is history. While maintaining a long distance relationship they would continue to meet up as they traveled the world together. Until, one day, Will went to England and surprised her with a proposal!

Her engagement ring is quite special – a significance to their relationship. It’s an antique ring – 2 rings put together (top is English and bottom is Canadian!).

To design their rehearsal dinner, I was inspired by their easy going personality, and Marie’s countryside living. Colours were kept soft, pastel and spring-like. Calligraphy to added that perfect touch of elegance. Chalkboard and hand painted clothes pin peg to hold place cards for that rustic charm.

I also had personal quotes from Will of why he loves Marie handwritten and clipped on to a DIY chicken wire board, and dressed up with foliage. This was specifically created for Marie to read as she got her hair and makeup done.

What made this rehearsal dinner extra special, was that this was the first time both sides of the family ever met before their wedding two days later. I wanted to create a night where they can mingle, but also bring “English” to Canada, as Marie is the one moving to Canada, hence the English Garden inspiration. Vintage handkerchiefs and mismatched china were used to keep along that inspiration.
