I truly believe that a wedding should be as unique as the couple who are getting married. When I was planning my wedding, I steered away from sticking to just a color palette or a theme. But I was inspired by our stories, places and things that we loved and everything that surrounded us. And our wedding turned out to be memorable and a day that was so special to us and our guests. On our blog today, wedding photographer, Emily of Em the Gem, shares with us how she finds inspiration. “There are places and spaces that speak to me. Call to me. I am inspired by places more than anything else, especially places with a history. Things that transport me to another time and make me feel new things. Perhaps this is why traveling is so important to me as an artist.” The wedding styled photoshoot that Emily is sharing with us today, was created when she stumbled upon an old historic property in Sonoma. It was in the process of being renovated but she was inspired to capture the history, the peeling wallpaper, old beams, creaky floors and untold stories before it disappeared. Especially since at one point the property was a speakeasy during the prohibition. She imagined what it must have been like when it was first built and a story and a photoshoot was born. When you’re planning your wedding, be inspired by the stories that are unique only to you. It might require you to slow down, dig deep, to pay attention and to open your eyes but it will be worth it. Inspiration is everywhere.
