For the past few days my husband and I have been preparing for our favorite time of the year. We have our faux fireplace on (apartment life), our Christmas decor is up (the tree is next) and I’m cooking up a storm to share my many favorite dishes (one being cauliflower mash). Henny is doing her holiday traditions as well. She’s on her annual fun road trip with her family (miss her already!). There is definitely magic in the air and I can’t stop smiling. Especially since Monday, when we wrapped up our For Philippines With Love fundraiser. We are so blown away by all the contributions and everyone who stepped out of their box to raise money too. I still can’t believe we were all able to raise $18,547! That’s approximately 185 people that you’re helping to have ShelterBox send emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies to the Philippines. A Christmas wish that already came true. My heart is bursting and filled with gratitude. I’m so passionate about family and love and seeing how we’re able to help families that need it most and fill it with love is my greatest joy.
This Thanksgiving fete by photographer Desi Baytan below just captured how beautiful the holidays are. Especially if this year is your first Thanksgiving together as Mr. & Mrs! Congrats to you! Let’s remind ourselves that this holiday season is about gratitude, and making what matters most in your heart be a part of your life. And let’s not stop there, but let’s make plans to carry this forward into 2014. As we sign off for this much anticipated Thanksgiving weekend, we wanted to wish everyone an amazing and meaningful one. Count your blessings, friends. And LOVE. Love without holding back. We’ll see you when get back here on Monday! – Lucia

From Desi, ” This long spread of food, while beautiful, seems almost excessive for just a party of two, nonetheless it’s a celebratory dinner for the deserving newlyweds. A presentation of morsels that lends to a sense of intimacy that would bring any couple together to celebrate their new beginning. This lavish spread has Mediterranean and Persian influences featuring grilled vegetables, fish, saffron basmati rice with pomegranate seeds, dried fruits, nuts, dishes of Sabzi khordan, lamb stew, salads and last but not least – a roasted turkey infused with spices.”
